The Duna 02 Chair by Arper

Founded in 1989, Arper are relative newcomers to the furniture design world, yet the Italian design house has grown rapidly. Evolving from a furniture manufacturing business into an international design presence, they have built a reputation as pioneers of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, creating innovative products that explore the relationship between product, space, people and human networks. 

With a strong focus on sustainability, the Arper design ethos revolves around six concepts: balance, family, intuition, light, colour and play: “We design for the world we want to live in.” Their integrative, human-centered approach is reflected in the studio’s design process, which is carefully considered from conception to production; human values framing each step of the operation.

Arper also places a strong emphasis on the sharing and broadening of knowledge through international design partnerships. They have collaborated with Spanish design team Lievore Altherr Molina on multiple successful projects, one of which has produced the stunning Duna 02 chair.

The elegant shape of the Duna 02 is a standout; it has been compared to a “soft, enveloping flower”, and hailed as a striking, yet classic piece that can be reinvented time and again. The iconic silhouette is a contemporary design dream, and evokes notions of comfort, space and style.

The polypropylene shell is fully upholstered in cushioned fabric, completed with a plush seat pad, and sits on a polished chrome base. Produced sustainably and in materials of the highest quality, these chairs are manufactured to stand the test of time.

We have 2 fully upholstered styles available, both in a 4-leg polished chrome base. A classic red Duna 02 chair, and a lounge chair (with slightly shorter back legs so the seat “lounges”) in a warm chocolate brown. Both styles have the flexibility to be used in many different environments; from the office, meeting rooms or waiting areas, to your lounge room.

Arper’s aim with all of their designs is to “bring function, aesthetic and detail together in elegant resolution”, and this has certainly been achieved with this chair. Allow yourself to get wrapped up in the warm and comfortable arms of the Arper Duna 02.
