Tacchini has spent decades producing some of the more distinctive contemporary furniture to come out of Italy, working with designers who prioritise shape, proportion and atmosphere over trend. While the company is known for collectible pieces by names like Gianfranco Frattini and Studiopepe, the Kelly Easy Chair represents Tacchini at its lighter and more approachable — still recognisably Italian, but less formal than many classic lounge designs.

Designed by Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, the Kelly Easy Chair takes a softer and more relaxed approach to contemporary lounge seating. Rather than relying on bulk or visual weight, the design uses proportion and restraint to create something immediately recognisable.

The oversized rounded backrest and low circular seat sit on a fine powder-coated steel frame that almost disappears beneath the upholstery. That balance between softness and structure is what makes the chair work so well. It feels visually light without ever feeling fragile.

The red upholstery paired with the pale pink frame gives these particular examples a strong visual character without becoming difficult to place. The chair is distinctive enough to define a room on its own, but adaptable enough to sit naturally alongside very different pieces. The best designer furniture usually manages both.
